Aamir Ali, who is currently starring in the web series The Trial, has opened up about his hesitation to do intimate scenes with Kubra Sait. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ali revealed that he was initially reluctant to shoot the scenes because of his recent divorce from his ex-wife, Sanjeeda Shaikh.
"I was a little hesitant in doing it," Ali said. "But I did it. You'll see the show, you'll know which scene I'm talking about. It doesn't happen twice, it happens once."
Ali and Shaikh announced their separation in 2021 after nine years of marriage. They have one daughter together.
Ali said that he and Shaikh have remained amicable since their divorce. "We've always let each other be the way we wanted to be," he said. "Work was the same pehle (earlier), work is the same now."
However, Ali admitted that the divorce was a difficult time for him. "For a year or so, I was spaced out," he said. "Then COVID happened. Both simultaneously hua tha (Both happened simultaneously)."
Ali said that he has learned a lot from his experience. "Everything teaches you a lot," he said. "It depends on you to pick up the good points. I believe life mein kuchh bhi hota hai (whatever happens in life), pick up the good points. Just let the negative part stay behind because negativity se kya hota hai (what happens with negativity), you sulk, you make other people sulk. That's not good."
Ali's comments come as he is receiving praise for his performance in The Trial. The show, which also stars Kajol, has been well-received by critics and audiences alike.
Ali's co-star Kubra Sait has also spoken about the intimate scenes in the show. "It was a very important scene for the story," she said. "It was not gratuitous at all. It was very respectful and it was shot in a very professional manner."
The Trial is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
