Actor Pankaj Tripathi has responded to the reports of a controversial theme in the upcoming film OMG 2, starring Akshay Kumar.
In an interview with Zoom TV, Tripathi said, "Lekin sachchai samne aayegi jab film release hogi (people are saying all sorts of things, but the truth will be out when the film releases)."
The reports of a controversial theme in OMG 2 began after the film was sent back to the makers by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for re-examination. There were rumors that the film had a LGBTQ theme, which the CBFC had some issues with.
However, Tripathi has denied these rumors, saying that the film is not about any one particular community or group of people. He said that the film is about "the truth" and that it will "bring forth the truth."
OMG 2 is a sequel to the 2012 film Oh My God!, which also starred Akshay Kumar. The film is directed by Amit Rai and produced by Akshay Kumar's production company, Hari Om Entertainment.
OMG 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 11, 2023. The film is expected to clash with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's Gadar 2 at the box office.
Akshay Kumar is in need of a hit film after his recent releases, Selfiee, Samrat Prithviraj, and Rakshabandhan, all failed to perform well at the box office. The success of OMG 2 will be a respite for him as he has some biggies lined up for 2024, including Ram Setu, Prithviraj, and Mission Cinderella.
Only time will tell whether OMG 2 will be a hit or a miss. However, one thing is for sure: the film is sure to be controversial.
