Navneet Nishan reveals she kissed Aamir Khan 7-8 times for a deleted scene from Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke
Navneet Nishan, who played the role of Maya in Mahesh Bhatt's 1993 film Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke, recently recalled an incident from the sets of the film. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Nishan revealed that she had to kiss Aamir Khan on the cheeks multiple times for a deleted scene.
Nishan said that the scene showed her character giving a peck on the cheek to Khan's character, Rahul, leaving a lipstick stain on his cheek. Khan, who is known for his perfectionism, wanted to make sure that the lipstick stain was visible in every shot, so he asked Nishan to kiss him multiple times.
"There was a cute scene which got edited, sadly. After our engagement, I go to Aamir's house to pick him up and give him a peck on the cheek. There was a lipstick mark on his cheek when I kissed him. And later, Aamir being Aamir said 'This has to be in continuity'. So, all through the day, he made me kiss his cheek at least 7-8 times," Nishan said.
The actress said that she was initially nervous about kissing Khan, but he made her feel comfortable. "I was an absolute nobody. And here were these massive stars," she said. "But Aamir was very sweet and made me feel at ease."
Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke was a box office success and won the Filmfare Award for Best Film. Nishan said that she is grateful for the opportunity to have worked on such a iconic film. "It was a delightful and enriching experience," she said.
The film also starred Juhi Chawla and Anupam Kher. Chawla won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film.
